The number of ESL schools has increased drastically over the past decade. The lack of quality teachers and language institutes in many countries to teach English has contributed to the increase. A crisis has created a demand for English language teachers of all levels.
A teacher, for example, can earn a good salary and benefits packages depending on the type of institution he or she is working in. Those who teach in government and government-owned institutions typically start at a salary of around $30,000 to $40,000 a year, while private English language schools usually pay ESL teachers between $20,000 and $30,000 a year. But a regular teacher is on the lower end of the pay scale because of the skill and time investment required to mentor students, lead them through systematic reforms, and see to it that their studies progress.
“There is a crisis in confidence for English language education within the primary school system across the globe,” said Jan Havard, executive director of the International Council of Language Association (ICLA), which represents more than 120,000 teachers and students. “The average age of primary school teachers is way above the recommended age to be able to cope with young students and the curriculum is so difficult that even experienced teachers can’t manage it effectively.”
Carlo Fonbuena, the general coordinator of ICA, agreed, stating that the structured syllabuses and the examinations have a significant impact on teacher’s value.
In Spain, however, the situation is particularly clear. “The Iberian Peninsula is the homeland of Spain’s linguistic treasures,” said Fonbuena. “ínatos Buscón’s Prize is the only prestige that remains here, as well as the Seat of the Government. So why not use this beautiful terrain to build our colleges and our schools where children can learn not only Spanish, but also French, German, and Italian too?”
Learning Through Visualisers
Videos have been used effectively as learning tools for centuries. If you’re looking to instill some new concepts in your students, there are a variety of modern courses available, such as “Getting to Know the English Language” which provides lessons using everything from clip-art to stage shows and interactive simulations. But for some students, an added benefit of using videos is the ability to have real-time interactive sessions with a tutor, through videos that can be submitted online for feedback.
But how can British teachers make the most of the use of school videos? One possible answer lies in the instinct that many have for the medium itself. A video can transport the reader to a particular setting, in this case, a secondary school, and engage them through the visual tools that the author has employed. A video can also represent a full lesson, as the ability to see the completion of a lesson is one of the strongest tools that teachers can use to affect classroom behavior.
Teachers can use videos to communicate ideas to students in a more visual way than is often used in the classroom. Ideas can be communicated through the use of videos that have a strong visual element to them, such as the use of school videos to help explain lessons that have just been completed. This can be done in a number of ways, such as through the use of dialogue or imagery.
School videos can also help to generate interest and begin a discussion about the subject or concept. They can also be used to encourage students to reflect on the subject and contemplate the possibility of implementing solutions found within the video into the classroom.
So do videos help when they are used for education purposes? There is no doubt that they can be a very useful educational tool, but that does not mean that they should be overused. The primary use of videos should be for enhancing the learning process, not as a substitute for that process. To get the most out of school videos, spectators should watch them objectively, assessing the context and learning anything that is missing from the text.
The final type of video that is used by schools is called alternate forms of presentation. This is basically the use of videos for communicating information in a musical format. Music is known to have a big influence on kids, and so using videos is a way to make students feel that they are at the center of the discussion, rather than on the sidelines.
The use of video in the classroom can also help students to get a perspective on things that are happening in the world outside school. Videos are also an ideal way to communicate ideas to students in difficult subjects, providing students with a starting point from which to attack difficult subjects.
Students can access school videos online, but they are also very useful in person. A good video can also be watched while students are employed so that they can get a viewpoint from which to begin their research.
